How It Works

The Strider Method: Balance First

Our philosophy is simple: master balance first. Instead of struggling with complicated pedals, heavy trikes, and limiting training wheels, your child will learn the most crucial skill right from the start. The Strider method simplifies the process into a clear progression, ensuring a low-stress, successful journey to two-wheeled freedom.

Learning to Rock

This is where the adventure begins for our very youngest riders. With the Strider
2-in-1 Rocking Bike, children as young as six months old get to rock out and interact with their bike in a fun and safe environment. This part is all about early exploration. It's where your child builds confidence and familiarity with their bike, getting comfortable with sitting and holding the handlebars. This playful introduction reduces the fear factor and sets the stage for their striding rock star debut. When they’re done rocking and ready to roll, just remove the bike from the Rocking Base and watch them stride.

Learning to Stride

Once your toddler is ready, they’ll move to the core of the Strider method on the 12 Comp, 12 Sport, or 12 Pro bike. Whether you’re taking the bike off their 2-in-1 Rocking Bike base or starting fresh with a 12 Comp, 12 Sport, or 12 Pro, they’ll get their little feet firmly on the ground. They'll learn to walk and run like the wind while seated on their bike. This striding motion naturally develops balance and steering skills while they work on transitioning from baby steps to big strides. As their confidence grows, they'll begin to lift their feet and coast, experiencing the thrill of gliding on two wheels. This is the "aha!" moment when balance truly clicks.

Learning to Ride

With balance and gliding mastered on their Strider 12 bike, the transition to the Strider 14x is easy! This bigger bike starts in balance mode, allowing your child to easily get comfortable on a bike that’s larger but still has the familiar feel of their favorite Strider. That comfort is the key to being ready for the next phase. The bike’s convertibility lets them take their time mastering this new size in balance mode. Once they're ready you can add or purchase the available pedal kit. With the 14x, your child can easily move from striding to pedaling on their own terms — no fear, no struggle, and no training wheels needed. Your little ripper can simply take their newfound confidence and ride.
